A good lesson will have a combination of demonstration as well as practice time - kids are visual learners and it is important that they see the swing done correctly.

Being prepared before the game will also help to improve the score, and help you to overcome those frustrating first few holes. Showing up just before tee off is not the best way to approach a game of relaxation.

Tips on preparing for the game.

To really have fun at golf you have to be prepared. Show up in plenty of time to head over to the practice green and start hitting a few balls with a medium iron - 5,6 or 7, but only at 50% of your ability. After hitting about 15-20 balls do some stretches. Hold the club above your head with your arms extended and stretch both sides of your torso. Stretch your arms above your head and imagine that you are trying to be as tall as possible. Don't forget to do some trunk rotations - turning side to side. Do some wrist rotations as well.

Now hit some balls at 100% of your ability. Use different clubs but don't practice - the goal here is to still be warming up. Don't correct your swing just get ready to play. Finally leave about 10 minutes to practice putting and chipping. With this preparation routine behind you, you'll be ready to tee off with form and confidence.
The more you prepare for your game, the more fun you will have!
