Start your child with a base ball grip and let them swing naturally. Early on it is more important to have fun than to develop swing mechanics.Golf lessons are a good idea once they have decided they love the game. And they will!
If you see something that you can correct quickly and easily- where their feet are - or maybe how their hands are placed on the club, start there.
PARENTS- BE PATIENT!
Kids get tired after only a few shots, so be patient - it will be worth the time invested!
Remember, a good golf tip - is that kids are visual learners give them every opportunity to watch good golf swings.
Keep it short, 5-10 minutes is long enough for a golf lesson, with lots of hitting in between.
When they are ready - start out at the driving range or the putting green.I place my son next to someone at the driving range he can watch, without even being noticed. Take a break and walk around, look at the way good players swing. When they have enough stamina try the pitch and putt, 9 holes will be enough.
Once they are ready to stay focused and control their anger, for 2 hours or more, they will be ready for an executive course. On longer holes move the tee box up so they are about 100 yds away. Anything farther and they will be easily discouraged.
